One of the challenges with any new software is ensuring that a new release is stable enough for production use. Sugar5.0 was released in December 2007 and is now production ready (as from Summer 2008). The main areas of improved functionality are an AJAX email client which is a huge improvement on the 4.5.x email client (try it .... it's very impressive) and a Module Builder that enables integrators like SalesAgility to quickly build bespoke modules for clients. The early releases were challenging but anything after patch(e) is ready for a production deployment.

The demonstration site is an "out of the box" installation with no customisations and no tailoring performed. As you browse the application, it is worth remembering that most fields can be removed or changed and a huge variety of new fields can be added, and the application can be customised to show your users as many or as few modules as they need.
